So I’ve heard that some people have been struggling with the 18th chamber in the game “Portal” so I’ve made this guide on how to finish the 18th chamber, so lets not waste any time and get started.
How to finish the first section.
Ok so as soon as you enter you will notice a pit of acid and the sign that always is present at the beginning of each chamber. So first of all place the blue portal on the floor you are standing on then on the roof of the next platform place the orange portal, the enter the portal and as you can see there is a wall next to you place a blue portal there I recommend to place it in a place where you can jump into without much issues, then on top of the wall (The roof) place a orange portal and jump into the blue portal.
How to finish the second section.
After you do all that I’ve mentioned previously the game will place an invisible checkpoint so when you die, you’ll appear there so you don’t have to repeat what we already did. Now on the platform you are currently standing at place a blue portal, then on the roof on top of the next platform you can see, place an orange portal and jump into the blue portal.
Now after you’ve jumped into the portal, if you look up you will see a platform with an angled panel where you can place a portal, and if you look down you will see another platform. Now place a blue portal on the wall underneath the angled panel, then place an orange portal on the platform you are currently standing on, after doing that jump into the orange portal and now you should be on the platform that you saw when you looked up before, now place a blue portal on the platform that you could see when you looked down before and place an orange portal on the angled panel. When you have done that jump into the blue portal and you if you followed this correctly you should be thrown into a room.
How to finish the third section.
Now that you’ve been thrown into the room if you walk more into it you can see a button you can press to enter to (In my opinion) the hardest part of this chamber). Also note that with button I mean a small button that is inside the room, and not one that you might have seen when being thrown into the room which is a big button that is on the floor and will be used later.
Anyways after the entrance has been opened, enter and you will be greeted with lots of turrets that will be actively shooting you and a high energy pellet or a orange ball that you need to get into a place that is closed with a metal door, to open the door you need to first go to the place where the door is located and you might see a button that looks like the one you used to open the entrance to this part, and a panel attached to the wall where you can place portals, you have to place a blue portal on the wall and an orange portal on the panel and enter the blue portal which will take you to the the orange portal where you need to time it correctly to press the button, that will open the door where the high energy pellet needs to be placed or as I will call it so it is easier to say “Orange ball”.
Now you have opened it but now this will be by far the hardest thing to do for this part, you need to do a timing so you open it hurry up and get the ball inside the thing where it needs to be placed. First of all if you look behind the panel where you placed the portal you might see, where the orange ball hit the wall and if you look even further behind you will another panel facing the door that you opened. Now look where the ball is coming from, first of all you need to wait so the ball is facing the place in the wall that it hit, when it is thrown place the blue portal on the place where the ball hits and then an orange portal on the panel that is looking towards the door that you open by doing the thing with the button that I taught previously, and then when the orange ball enters the blue portal, and is going through the orange portal quickly open the door by doing the thing I said, and the orange ball will be placed inside the room that was being protected by the door, and that will make the platform in between the turrets start moving.
Now you need to get rid of all of the 4 turrets so you can safely pass with the platform since if you do not get rid of them they will kill you while you try to get there. First of all to get rid of the first turret, the first one is located at the right side of the map and has the lowest platform, to get rid of it you need to place a blue portal on it’s line of sight or the red line that it is in front of it make sure that the red line is in the middle of the blue portal, now you need to place the orange portal in the wall where the orange ball hits and wait so the orange ball gets through and knocks down the turret. Now we need to get rid of the other turret on the right side, for that we need to do the same thing but we now change the blue portal on this turret’s line of sight or red line, as always make sure the line is on the middle of the blue portal and it will knock down the turret. Now repeat this same steps with every single turret until you got rid of every single one.
Now after you have gotten rid of all the turrets, get on the platform to go to the next place, now jump into the room underneath the room with the cube and if you look around it you will notice that in the left and the right there is a wall that lets you place portals put a blue portal in either of them and then put an orange portal to get to the starting point where you were originally at then press the button and enter the blue portal to get back to where you were originally at before going to the room underneath the room with the cube, a angled panel will come out then you need to place a blue portal there and if you go to the place where the turret at the right side that had the lowest platform as you can notice there is a floor near there, place an orange portal there to be thrown to the cube room.
When you are in the cube room, grab the cube and jump onto the moving platform to put it where you originally were at then go back to the room underneath the, cube room and place a blue portal in the wall there again, and also an orange portal at the place where you started to get to where you now placed the cube, now press the button which makes the angled panel appear again and grab the cube and go through it so you get back to room with the button where you pressed the button to open the entrance to the room you were at. Exit the room where you will see a big button on the floor, and place the cube there.
When you place the cube a door in the platform with the angled panel you used a long time ago to get thrown where you are currently at should open place a blue portal on top of the door and then an orange portal on the platform to the bottom left of the one you are currently at and jump inside the portal to get to the platform with the angled panel, and go through the door to get to the final section.
How to finish the final section.
When you go through the door you will be greeted with a giant fall to you left and in front of you a lot of platforms that keep getting taller. This one is really simple yet hard, first of all place a blue portal on the bottom of the giant fall, and then a orange portal on the lowest platform, jump into the blue portal and that will make you jump high enough to now place the blue one on the next platform mid air and enter back into the orange portal, then when you are in the next platform on the air on the one you see next place the orange portal now, then with the next you need to place a portal on, place a blue portal now, for the last platform at the corner there is an angled panel which you need to place a orange portal, which will take throw you into the end where you need to get in the elevator, and you have successfully finished the 18th chamber in portal.
